The forbidden story is a black and white Egyptian movie of production. The movie discusses a variety of human aspects and human nature through drama and comedy. The movie revolves around Hanaa, a rural girl who went to live with Kassem Bey, the cousin of her father, the only surviving from her family. She took with her a basket full of food and carrying a large goose, which caused a costly Chinese vase break. Kassem Bey was unhappy with her arrival. Kassem is womanizer and changed his name to Jalal. Jalal impressed by the beauty of his kinswoman and sought to teach her the principles of urbanization. When Jalal noticed that their neighbor was watching her, he sent his kinswoman with her maid to live in a faraway villa in Heliopolis.

Ahmad grabbed the goose and exchanged a few words with Hana. They attracted to each other from the first meeting. Ahmed tells Jalal about his adventures and Jalal begins giving him instructions to get closer to the heart of his beloved. Although Hana talked to Ahmad about his boss, he did not know him because she was talking about Kassem Bey. When Ahmed tells Jalal that he is hampered by an old relative, Jalal advised him to leave her old relative to live with Ahmed without knowing that he is the old intended relative. Finally, Jalal acknowledge the triumph of youth love, and blesses their marriage. The film is written by Radwan Tolba. At the end of the movie they end up playing a game of one-on-one for his heart.

The epitome of middle-aged misery and menopausal depression, Evelyn learns lessons from the stories and advice given to her by characters such as Mrs. The transformation Evelyn embarks on is a sign of how strong she, or anyone, can be when their head is in the game, and as we see Idgie still selling her foods at the end of the book, we conclude that the past can live on even into the present. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe is about a middle aged woman named Evelyn who loves to listen to thrilling stories from Mrs. Threadgoode tells Evelyn some of the most outrageous stories about her life that made me laugh, cry, skeptical, and even horrified for what could happen next!

There were many examples of how the characters in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes" manifested power in and through their lives. One example of this is with the character Big George. He was a black man who lived in the town. He also did the barbeque at the Whistle Stop Cafe. A big example of how he manifested power was through his dealings with racism. This movie took place in the 's, a time period where the black race was greatly looked down upon and thought to be lesser than white people. This could also be seen when Idgie's friend tells her he has to bring her to Georgia the next day because she is being convicted of Frank Bennett's murder.

He basically tells her to pack up and leave the town so she is not arrested and also tells her to leave Big George in the town to get arrested because the people wanted to have someone hung for the crime, and they would rather have it be a black man than a white woman. So because of these biases, Big George had to find the power within him to overcome these obstacles and to live a decent life, despite the hardships he had to face on a daily basis because of his skin color. Big George also found power within his own family and even with Idgie. So, by combining their determination and strength with his own, Big George was able to overcome the barriers of racism.

Of all the disturbances being listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders DSM-IV-TR 1 only a few of them have not yet been portrayed in films. Cinema has certainly been fascinated by insanity and its manifestations, and psychiatric disorders have provided film directors and scriptwriters with a stream of material for their scripts, action, and themes. Taking that interest into account, it is necessary to reflect on the vision of mental disturbances that has been transmitted by cinema to the public in general. For most average citizens the only contact they may have with the psychiatric reality is through cinema; hence, films are their one - yet strong -…. I chose to critique the film Fried Green Tomatoes.

I wanted to show that this film is about two friendships between four women that prove that when you find that person that is your best friend, you find the best in yourself. This film was released in It was based on the book, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café by Fanny Flagg. Flagg was also the one who wrote the screenplay as well. Throughout the movie Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café we have been introduced to every theme from sacrifice, racism, to death. These three themes, plus many others, have shaped the book and movie to the phenomenon that they have become together.

Mainly following four women, the book travels through decades of hardship, friendship, and independence. I love that Monica still worked hard on reaching her goal as a basketball player. It seems like the film shows how woman struggle from doing the same thing that is easily reached by men. Being stereotyped for being a woman in the sport, is her biggest struggle. Throughout the many genres of filming, D. Quincy: For what? Monica: Your heart. I am a serious movie fanatic. I watch movies all the time. This movie obviously has something to do with basketball if you look at the title. I admire the game of basketball and actually have the privilege of being able to play it too. This movie is about two people who love the game of basketball. As you watch this movie, the characters become a part of you. Like a spectator at a basketball game, you just hope they play well with each other and score a victory in the end, on and off the court.

The two main characters are Monica Wright and Quincy McCall. The film is actually set in four quarters, just like a basketball game. The film starts on the basketball courts, where both Quincy and Monica are eleven. Monica is a tomboy looking to be the first women in the NBA, but in this neighborhood, dreams and ambitions are one thing, proving yourself another. The second quarter fast forwards to high school where Quincy and Monica take on their respective characters. They are both now the stars of their high school basketball teams. Their dreams of making it in the NBA are as strong as ever and with scouts watching their games that dream looks to be coming true.

The third quarter focuses on their career at USC. Monica finds it hard, struggling to make it on a team that views a rookie as an outsider. The fourth quarter begins with Quincy playing in the NBA, no longer a star and actually a bench player who comes out when the game is no longer competitive. Monica follows her dream, but without the WNBA at this time, women end up only playing overseas where they are treated like stars. As you can see, this movie is all about the game of basketball. I love anything to do with basketball and absolutely love watching this movie. I can highly say that anyone who loves the game of basketball, boy or girl, would love this movie just as much as I do. This movie has all you can ever think about basketball.

All the good and bad about basketball. It is defiantly a must see movie if you love basketball. Quincy wants to be like his dad, a star for the Clippers. Monica just wants to break the glass ceiling and make it in a sport that had yet to have the WNBA.

My initial reaction to the film was of utter shock at the brutally raw reality of the film. The explicit meaning, as. Movies have the ability to transport people to different times and places and distract them from ordinary everyday reality. They allow for a range of emotions to be experienced. At their core, movies examine the human condition. There are plenty of deeper truths woven into screenplays and plenty of lessons to be learned, even when an individual is solely seeking entertainment. Today I watched the second movie titled Against the Wall. Soon a prison riot breaks out, and Smith and the other guards are taken hostage. The prisoners, led by Jamaal Samuel L. Jackson , take control of the jail and demand better living conditions.

The mystery and the ideals of life and adventure made people want to see this movie, in addition, the images and the cinematography in the trailer was different as any part of the trailer could be used for a background picture due to how well they were shot. The trailer was one of the major ways of marketing the film as most trailers are but this movie was able to uplift a person and have them think about their on lives and have the audience a yearning to learn how to improve their own lives of try to live through the adventure of the main character. This made the film a great draw, just by watching the film I felt like I still have much left to accomplish in my life. In addition, many people have dreams similar to the main character who lived out his dreams by day dreaming giving it a relatable aspect in the film.

Growing up, we are surrounded with images of the prison. In movies, we see a false reality of the prison, which leads us to believe we know what life is like in the prison. Few people know the truth of the prison system, this contributes to the normalization of the prison and the systematic incarceration. It made really made me think if what the characters are doing morally wrong. Both cops handle justice a different way and no one taught Jake that the world is cruel, and twisted. This eventually causes the climactic intense ending, and will keep your eyes glued to the screen.

Although I enjoy this movie there is somethings that could be better. For instance the movie has a slow start. I also would make a scene more believable, but I digress because if it was the movie wouldn't be able to continue. Overall this movie contained major keys to make it interesting. The movie the Shawshank Redemption, based on the book by Steven King, I believe is one of the best movies ever made. The portrayal of prison life in the movie is the best I have seen and a star-studded cast including Morgan Freeman supports the characters and brings to life the everyday struggles of life behind bars.

In this paper I will relate topics from class to the movie and discuss information we have learned through out the semester. All of the characters presented in the movie have a distinct personality, making the viewer engage deeply in the heart pumping action and drama. The movie had me hooked, there was a lot of suspense, there were some parts when you were stunned to see what just happened. All the killing and violence were good techniques the directors used, it made the movie better and realistic, as I said before. Overall I found the movie to be quite interesting and exciting at times but a bit slow in others.

It had a good flow also, just as you were on the verge of falling into boredom with a scene they switched it up on you to keep you. I did have a few problems with this film. Also I can see how very few can relate on a personal level to this story. But either way this film breathes new life into story-telling and gives it a new spin. Another example of a movie that has inspired me would have to be one of the greatest movies of all time, and in that I mean Cool Hand Luke. This movie is a movie I can watch time and time again. Paul Newman gives a hell of a performance, playing Luke. The whole story of this rebellious inmate, part of a southern chain gang, who goes against all rules was magnificent. He would try to escape time and time again even after getting the shit kicked out of him, he would do it again and again.

He did it just to prove them wrong, even though it made him violently ill. He got the fuck knocked out him. And kept standing right back up each time it became more difficult. But he kept on fighting to get up until his opposition stopped fighting. This movie makes me wish I was more like Luke, to be able to go against the rules and not care, to do what you. I love the progression of the plot, it showed the life of Oscar and all that he did. I like that they showed his compassion and love for others. For example, accepting to pay for his sisters rent, even though he had no job, or staying with the dog until he died. He is a father, he pays his rent, he is a son. The cop shot him without a second thought, proving that his life did not have an importance to. I love movies.

The way in which cinema can paint such vivid and beautiful moving images, portray moving stories containing a wide range of emotion and narrative threads, leaving a long-term impact on the viewer, all within a runtime of two hours or so, captured my fascination at an early age. This fascination continues to this day. Being that it is a drama, the viewer is supposed to be able to feel the emotion of the movie. Tyler Perry did a phenomenal job of making that happen. Everything seemed so real. Rape, domestic violence, and infidelity are just a few problems that the characters in the film had to go through. These are all problems that many people can relate to. Seeing all the sad endings made me cry. Knowing that the plot could be a reality for an actual person around me made the movie so much better.

This made the emotion of the movie come out so much more than if Tyler Perry would have presented issues that are not so common. It makes you feel for the characters in the movie. Also, the acting that the actresses and actors did made the emotion so much. Essay Topics Writing. Home Page Research Movie My Favorite Movie. Movie My Favorite Movie Decent Essays. Open Document. I love watching movies. There is one movie, however, which stands out among them all. A film I had never heard of before viewing called Prisoners. From start to finish, I was invested in the characters and their goals. I felt their fear and desperation.

I was in the movie, not sitting on my living room couch. The movie Prisoners was suspenseful, chilling, and memorable, so there is no doubt in my mind that it is my favorite movie, and I will likely remember it for the rest of my life. The backbone of any good movie is the story. The story is the rope that the movie uses to drag you in, to make you feel for the characters, to make you more than a simple movie viewer. Prisoners was about Keller Dover, an average man with a teenage son and a young daughter. They have friends down the street, another family just like them. the unthinkable happens. The young girl goes missing. From that moment on, both the police and Keller search for her, but they use methods that are drastically different from each other. This poses a question to the audience : How far would you go for the people you love?

The way the movie portrayed the desperation of Mr. Dover and the detective assigned to the case was perfect. As time went on, doubt and fear began to take over the minds of everyone involved. As they mystery was slowly unraveled, many twists and turns prevented the solution from being obvious. I was constantly thinking about what might have happened, and I was still nowhere near to close. The emotions felt by everyone who feared for this innocent girl and wondered where she was exploded on the TV screen. It was suspenseful, heart-wrenching, and everything you could want from a movie. Truly, an excellent story propelled Prisoners into my mind and my heart, more than earning my favor. Besides a great storyline,. Get Access.
